Abstract
There are many unresolved problems in Nigeria but the issue of the upsurge of Ghost work syndrome is troubling and the damages it has done to the polity are astronomical. In fact, the major factor obstructing her path towards sustainable development is ghost worker cloning that study, therefore, made an attempt to suitable the impact of ghost worker syndrome on the economic development of Nigeria. Adopting the system theory as a theoretical framework and relying on secondary source of data, the country scandalous unemployment, poverty, high immorality rate lawlessness, ghost workers, fraud, and election irregularities among others as a result of a failed system. The study recommended that the anti-corruption agencies will not be able to fight ghost workers fraud alone unless effective institutionalization is embarked upon. Nigeria needs empowerment, security, and re-orientation through a responsible press and ex-temporary leadership in all government parastatals in order to attain meaningful and sustainable development. ...
