Abstract
Research and data analysis play a crucial role in health information management and patient healthcare. This study aimed to examine the benefits of research and data analysis to health information managers in patient healthcare at Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital, Ogidi, Anambra State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, and a questionnaire was used for data collection. The target population comprised doctors, pathologists, pharmacists, and administrative staff at the hospital (N300). Using Yamane’s formula, a sample size of 171 was determined, and stratified and simple random sampling techniques were employed. Data analysis involved percentages, frequency distributions, and the chi-square test. The study revealed that the respondents (n50) acknowledged the importance of research and data analysis in identifying trends, patterns, and insights for enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction. Additionally, research and data analysis contributed significantly to quality improvement initiatives in patient healthcare. However, challenges such as insufficient resources, lack of accurate information, and communication gaps among healthcare providers were identified. The chi-square test (2  36.02, df  1, p  0.05) confirmed that research and data analysis significantly benefit health information managers in patient healthcare. Research and data analysis are essential for improving patient healthcare outcomes at Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital. However, addressing the identified challenges through continuous capacity building, resource investment, improved collaboration, and embracing new technologies is crucial. Implementing regular training programs, allocating adequate resources, fostering better communication, adopting modern data analysis tools, ensuring data security and privacy, and promoting a data-driven culture were recommended to enhance the effectiveness of research and data analysis in patient healthcare....
