Abstract
This study investigated the attitude of clinical nurses toward the prevention of pressure ulcers in hospitalized patients. The research questions used were centered on assessing the attitude of nurses, evaluating their practice and identifying the barriers to the prevention of pressure ulcers. A total of 75 clinical nurses were studied. The sampling technique used was stratified random sampling in which a valid and structured questionnaire was used. The questionnaires were distributed and collected by the researcher. Also, a Likert scale was used to study the nurses’ attitudes and practices toward the prevention of pressure ulcers. The study showed that 80% (60) of the respondents believe that a pressure ulcer is an important indicator of the quality of nursing, 90.7% (68) believe in the practice of using a risk assessment scale to assess pressure ulcers. Also, 94.6% (71) said that short staffed is one of the factors that can hinder the prevention of pressure ulcer formation. Recommendations were made for the nurses to participate in in-service training and refresher courses about pressure ulcer prevention and hospital policies and guidelines are needed to promote nurses' attitudes....
