OBJECTIVES: To assess the level of awareness of HPV and HPV vaccines, with the rate of vaccination among female School of Nursing students in NAUTH, Nnewi, Anambra State. METHOD: This cross-sectional survey was carried out among female school of nursing students in NAUTH, Nnewi. Data were collected using semi-structured, self-administered questionnaires among 250 students and analyzed using SPSS version 25.0. RESULTS: A total of 250 female students were assessed. Their mean age was 21.4 years range was 17-43 years. 92% and 83% of the students had heard of HPV and HPV vaccines respectively, 51.2% of respondents had an excellent knowledge of HPV virus, while 48.5% of respondents had an excellent knowledge of the vaccine, however, a very poor rate of vaccination was revealed from the study as only 1.6% of the participants had initiated/completed the vaccination. CONCLUSION: This study reveals that awareness of HPV and HPV vaccination doesn’t translate to vaccination against HPV.
