Abstract
This research work is titled“the effect of Local Government Reforms on Worker’s Productivity a study of Jalingo Local Government Area. To carry out the research successfully, the researcher set the following objectives to identify the factors that cause low productivity in Jalingo local government, to assess the impact of the various local government reforms on workers’ productivity in Jalingo local government, and to suggest practical measures on how to achieve high productivity among workers’ of Jalingo local government. The theory researcher used was social exchange theory. To successfully carry out this research, three questions were formulated and structured questionnaires were designed based on the research questions. The survey design was adopted, the target population of the study was 1,065, 479 respondents and 400 respondents were used as the sample size. To find solutions to the effect of Local Government Reforms on the Worker’s Productivity, the researcher used primary and secondary data as it was only restricted to Jalingo Local Government Area, Taraba State. A sample of 400 respondents was selected using cluster sampling technique. The data collected was analysed and presented in a tabular form for easy understanding. Also, simple percentages were used for further analysis. The study also uses both descriptive and analytical methods in analyzing the data from the sampled area and recommendations were made thus management of the local government system should encourage this act as it will help in tapping the professional knowledge,  talents and The management local government system in Nigeria should endeavour to adopt the democratic leadership style in the system, as it will help in no small way in encouraging efficient supervision, free flow of information, participative management.  ...
