Abstract
This project was written on the topic“Increasing Pigs Production through the activities of Co-operative Societies” using Abia State Livestock Production as a case study was carried out to survey the past programmes and politics constituted by the government to mobilize piggery production into co-operative and the functional ones more productive as a way of facilitating the attainment of self insufficiently in piggery productivity in the country. The general constraints that affect the achievement of the objectives of this piggery production and how they affect the co-operatives in Abia State were identified. These include ill-conceived, inefficient extension services, inadequate facilities and organized marketing outlets, non-restriction of membership which might bring in people of questionable characters whose membership may lead to the downfall of the society among others. Finally to control these constraints improved coordination authorities between the state and local government authorities should come in the incessant change of government should be avoided and more as this is the only way to achieve the objectives of constituting these cooperatives. ...
