Urban growth or sprawl is simply the expansion of towns and cities. The study discovers that there is a dearth of infrastructure around the study area. The genesis of this could be attributed to the fact that most plots in the area are not government designated layouts. The area initially falls within a rural setting and that makes the acquisition of land easier because landowners are at liberty to sell their farm lots at an improved value or face the risk of revocation of the right of occupancy by the government in the event of designating layouts to accommodate the expanding city. This research work has some suggestions for the analysis of urban sprawl in Gwale local government of Kano state. These include The need to develop and or update the Master plan for Gwale metropolis taking into cognizance the future development requirements. The need for periodic measuring and forecasting changes in land use so that its attendant infrastructural requirements can be met adequately.
